About Lupara Studios

Lupara Studios started as an experiment. As children of the 80s, Xal and Erroneous grew up on Nintendo. As children of a university professor and elementary school educator with heavy backgrounds in computers, they grew up in a household that encouraged learning and experimenting with technology. When they couldn't find games for the computer that were challenging enough, they were told the only way to fix that was to create their own. Their first title was a Star Trek adventure game where the player fought Klingons in open space. They were hooked.

A few years and a couple of college degrees later, they met at Xal's apartment and had a conversation about a grander experiment. They'd both been playing Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games for a while, and were both fascinated by how they work. Erroneous was studying for a Masters degree in Computer Science at the time, and had researched MMO design. He had also been introduced to Ogre3D, a free 3D graphics engine, during his studies.

Neither had written networking code prior to this project, however they were able to put together a client-server chat system. After that, design of a set of servers to support an MMO began. Code was written, rewritten, rethought, and redesigned, and the end result was a server system that is able to support a large-scale MMORPG.

Since then, ideas and concepts, art, and plot have come and gone. Orge3D has been changed out for Unity3D as the graphics engine. And through all this change, experimentation, discussion, and dreaming, the idea of Elemental Planes was born. Elemental Planes is an MMORPG, set in what could be the not-so-far-off future. A game of many worlds. And a battle is about to begin.
